MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #31 + MilSpouse Weekly Roundup #25

1.  Aside from no deployments, what is one thing you would want to make the MilSpouse life “perfect”? submitted by Oh How Delightful  Do you really want me to get started on this one?  :)  A better transition program, that is supported and prioritized by all commands.  Something that better prepares my DH for the real world, maybe even coaching him through the whole process so he doesn't get frustrated when he sits down to fill out another long application.  DH wasn't around to watch me apply to a ridiculous amount of schools and all of the work that it entailed.  I think if he were able to see that, he would understand that it's not just him and his bad experience.

2.  Just how many peppers did Peter Piper pick? submitted by Married into Army  If he was picking for me, hopefully he only picked the yellow ones, and not too many because I have a couple in my fridge right now and I don't want them to go bad and get squishy.

3.  If you could have any career in the world with nothing holding you back, what would you do? submitted by It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want To  Isn't that what I already do?  Livin' the dream, baby!  I self-selected this career and I'm in my 7th year in the field of education!  Year five is typically the turnover year for SpEd teachers, and I'm still going strong!  I'm most likely going to use my GI Bill to get my Ph.D., and while I'd like to get it in something SpEd related, the closest program around here only offers Education Administration.  I don't have a desire to be a principal or assistant principal, but I wouldn't mind working in SpEd admin.

4.  Do you have a service oriented tattoo and if so what is it.  If you don’t what would you get? submitted by The Squid’s Accomplice  I don't have any tattoos, which always made me the exception when I was active in the rockabilly scene (it sounds weird to say that, but you get me).  My parents weren't big fans of tattoos, so I never got one because of that reason.  I really do like them, but I'm very opinionated about them.  I joke with my brother that if he ever comes back with a pirate ship on his chest, it's game on for me since he will have killed it for my dad.  Also, it irks me to see so many students with tattoos these days.  I don't have a problem with people getting them, but I believe you need to wait for certain age milestones before you do.  I just feel like the super cliche tattoos (like stars) these kids get are going to look horrible and they're going to regret them in a few years.  As for me, I have a huge patriotic pinup backpiece in my head.  I'd pull the trigger on it, if I ever got a tattoo.

5.  Imagine a block of time has opened up in your busy day for you to take a class in anything you like.  What subject would you choose? submitted by To The Nth  I've been going back and forth about this, but I think I'd take a cooking class.  It'd be nice to be able to whip up healthy, quick dinners for the family without having to use a cookbook or strain my brain.  I prefer to bake over cook, so I wouldn't mind an extensive class in baking everything that's not good for me.  Yum!

It's supposed to snow this weekend in Colorado (doh!), but that gives me a perfect chance to browse through participants in the MilSpouse Weekly Roundup!  Check 'em out!
