#reverb10 Day 5 - Let Go

What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why? - Alice Bradley

There was a lot of letting go this year, unfortunately.  Our family took quite a hit, and the person who's had to bear a lot of this burden is my grandma.  She lost her daughter (my aunt), and her best friend/sister (my great aunt).  Both of these women died of health complications related to their cancers (breast and colon, respectively).  My heart goes out to my great uncle as well, since they had been high school sweethearts.  My great aunt was one of the most wonderful women I've ever come to know, and she will be greatly missed by all.  DH's grandma also died, which is how FIL came to live with us.  It's been a rough year for members of our family, to say the least.

As for me, I count my blessings.  I have lost some friends, mainly just from them fading away, as the gaps between our commonalities grow.  I know I've lost some friends because they don't understand the military life or because they can't relate to my struggles with fertility.  As for the rest, I'm not sure.  I have people in my life that don't respond to me when I try to maintain connections with them.  I don't dwell on these losses, it is what it is.  I know I've done the same though.  I have at least one person who I haven't made a priority in my life, because I wasn't a priority in hers a while back.  I'm so bad with email, it's just not the best way to get a hold of me.

This post makes me want to go cut ties on Facebook with people that don't keep up with me, actually...

Hahha. I love purging Facebook actually. One of my favorite pastimes... lmao.

Yes, people losing ties, or just not making a priority. I have that happen ALL the time. Sometimes you just get tired of putting in your usual 100%. I am with you.
